Chairperson of the Committee on Security and Defence Mr Obrad Mišo Stanišić took part in the regional conference on security sector reform and governance in South East Europe, organised by the OSCE and held in Belgrade.
The two-day regional workshop included six panel discussions, within which the parliamentarians and representatives of security agencies had the opportunity to be informed in more detail about the securing of sustainable reforms through political commitment and dedication, as well as about the concept of security sector reform and governance as a driver of resilience in South East Europe.
At the event, the topics also included inclusive access and building of trust through reinforced security sector governance, and the representatives of delegations who participated in the workshop had the opportunity to also exchange opinions on the institutional culture change, as well as the significance of promoting the mechanism of coordination in the context of this sector’s reform and governance.
For years the OSCE has been supporting its member states in reforming the said field, and the meeting in Belgrade is the first in a series of meetings organised by Slovakia, aimed to draw lessons from the specific South East Europe’s experiences and to establish the fields of future cooperation.
