The Security and Defence Committee today held its Fifth Meeting with Director of the National Security Agency Mr Dejan Peruničić in attendance. Based on the 2016 Performance Report of the National Security Agency and the discussion that followed, the Committee unanimously accepted the Report and in that respect adopted the following conclusions:
1. The Committee notes that in the future the National Security Agency should continue with activities with regard to fight against organised crime, with focus on the most severe forms of criminal offences, drug trafficking, as well as other high-risk criminal acts;
2. It was concluded that measures and actions should be further intensified in order to collect data on activities, conflicts and potential clashes among organised crime groups in Montenegro and the region, especially bearing in mind the upcoming tourist season;
3. The Committee believes that the National Security Agency still pays full professional attention to activities of individuals and groups from the aspect of religious extremism and terrorism;
4. Bearing in mind modern security threats and challenges, the Committee believes the continuation of modernisation of the National Security Agency to be very significant in the area of combating cyber-crime in order to create normative and operational mechanisms for a more effective action in this respect.
