Security and Defence Committee holds its Eighth Meeting

Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Basic Principles of Intelligence and Security Sector of Montenegro considered

 

In the presence of representative of the proposer, the Committee has considered the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Basic Principles of Intelligence and Security Sector of Montenegro with special reference to application of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1373 in the context of the Report on the 4th round of evaluation of the system of preventing money laundering and terrorist financing in Montenegro of the Council of Europe Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism (MONEYVAL), as well as the need for harmonisation of the text due to the changed names of the ministries and their organisational units.

On the basis of conducted discussion, the Committee has noted that the adoption of the said act contributes to improvement of cooperation and coordination of security services in Montenegro in the field of fight against terrorism, organised crime, illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors, illegal migration and other criminal acts.

With regard to that, the Committee unanimously decided to propose to the Parliament to adopt the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Basic Principles of Intelligence and Security Sector of Montenegro.
