Chairperson of the Security and Defence Committee Mr Obrad Mišo Stanišić thanked Slovenia for, as he said, unconditional support it provided as contact point embassy to Montenegro on its path of Euro-Atlantic integration. Mr Stanišić stressed that Montenegro’s membership of NATO was a great step forward for the Balkan region.

Minister of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia Ms Andreja Katič said that Montenegro’s membership would serve as an example and additional incentive to other regional countries. Ms Katić added that Slovenia would continue to give logistic and every other help to Montenegro in the reforms awaiting it after officially becoming a member of NATO.

Slovenian Ambassador to Montenegro H.E. Mr Mitja Močnik accentuated that by its reforms on the path to NATO, Montenegro has significantly approached the European Union and in that regard added that the two states would cooperate more closely.
