To Be Secure Forum ends in Budva

The seventh annual 2BS (To Be Secure) Forum ended in Budva today. The forum, hosted by the Atlantic Council under the auspices of the Government of Montenegro, and in cooperation with NATO, the US Embassy in Podgorica, and the Balkan Trust for Democracy, took place from 11 to 13 May 2017.

The event was officially opened by Mr Savo Kentera, President of the Atlantic Council of Montenegro, and Mr Hoyt B. Yee, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, USA. Prime Minister of Montenegro Mr Duško Marković delivered a keynote speech.

During the sessions, a special attention was devoted to NATO enlargement, defining and redefining relations on the line USA-NATO-Russia and impact which those global relations will have on the region, including Montenegro.

On day two of the gathering, within a presidential discussion entitled “Against the Insidious Wiles of Foreign Influence, the Jealousy of a Free People Ought to be Constantly Awake”, the following spoke: Mr Filip Vujanović, President of Montenegro, Ms Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, President of Croatia, and Mr Borut Pahor, President of Slovenia. 

The event also provided an opportunity for discussing the political twists and turns, foreign policy, the current key security issues that will influence the shaping of international relations and their impact on the future of both Europe and the rest of the world.

Forum To Be Secure is an annual high-level forum which deals with issues of global, Euro-Atlantic and security in SEE. The main characteristic of this Forum is the participation of numerous high officials, prominent academics and experts in security policy and related state management.
