Chairperson of the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget Mr Predrag Sekulić and Committee member Mr Genci Nimanbegu participated in the regional conference “Parliamentary Oversight of Public Finance”, which was held in Prishtina on 7 May 2019.

The participants had the opportunity, in two sessions, to exchange their experiences in exercising control and oversight of public spending, including the aspect of inter-institutional cooperation, as a key precondition for maintaining stable and sustainable public finances.

During session one, they discussed, among other things, the role and functions of the committees responsible for finance and budget, and one of the panellists was Chairperson of the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget Mr Predrag Sekulić. During the discussion, member of the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget Mr Genci Nimanbegu pointed to the need for further strengthening of capacities in part relating to adequate budget planning.

Session two of the conference referred to the cooperation of parliamentary committees with the supreme audit institutions, while one of the panellists was Mr Milan Dabović, President of the Senate of the State Audit Institution of Montenegro.

The conference, organised by the Committee for Oversight of Public Finance of the Parliament of Kosovo, in cooperation with the German Association for International Cooperation (GIZ), has gathered chairpersons and members of parliamentary committees responsible for finance and budget matters, as well as representatives of the audit institutions from the Western Balkans countries and the EU.
