Energy Community Secretariat presented its 2016 Report with regard to Montenegro

A meeting of the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget with representatives of the Energy Community Secretariat was held

 

The Director of the Energy Community Secretariat presented the 2016 Annual Implementation Report of the Secretariat in part relating to Montenegro, the situation in the European integration of Montenegro in the field of energy, as well as the challenges that the Energy Community would face in the upcoming period.

During the meeting, members of the Committee, among other things, were informed on the view of the Energy Community concerning the situation in Montenegro, in the fields of: electricity, gas, renewable sources of energy, energy efficiency, environmental protection, and oil reserves. Furthermore, they discussed the need for further harmonisation of legislation in the field of energy with the EU regulation, the position of the independent regulator in this field, and the need for further strengthening of its independence, investments in the field of energy, the need for adoption of the Law on mandatory reserves of petroleum products, energy efficient building and infrastructure investments, renewable energy sources etc.

It was assessed by the Committee that the activities which the Energy Community began with the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget in 2013, via the holding of meetings and the parliamentary plenum, were of exceptional importance for the work of MPs, as well as that the information available through reports of the Energy Community provided a good basis for comprehending the situation in this field.

Delegation of the Energy Community Secretariat consisted of Mr Janez Kopač, Director of the Secretariat, Mr Dirk Buschle, Deputy Director of the Secretariat, and Mr Peter Vajda, Environmental Expert at the Secretariat.

On behalf of the Committee, the meeting was attended by Chairperson of the Committee Mr Vujica Lazović and members: Ms Jovanka Laličić, Mr Branko Čavor, Mr Filip Vuković, and Mr Petar Smolović.
