Committee on European Integration holds its Fifteenth Meeting

Representatives of the relevant institutions presented progress in meeting obligations within the process of Montenegro's accession to the European Union

At today’s meeting of the Committee on European Integration, a consultative hearing of Minister of European Affairs Aleksandar Andrija Pejović was held, as well as of representatives of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption.

The meeting discussed preparation of the remaining negotiation chapters, the impact and implementation of legislative and strategic benchmarks in the field of justice, the fight against corruption and organised crime, the freedom of expression and violence against journalists, and the position and work on improving the human rights of minority and vulnerable groups.

During the discussion, members of the Committee showed interest in the dynamics of future closing of chapters, progress in the implementation of provisional benchmarks for chapters 23 and 24, the work of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption and anti-corruption activities at the local level, as well as the protection of children's rights and the fight against violence against children.

The MPs adopted a conclusion asking the Commission to monitor the actions of the responsible authorities in investigating cases of threats and violence against journalists, murder of journalists and attacks on media assets, and to deliver a report on the results achieved by the responsible authorities in investigating cases of attacks against journalists.
