At its meeting held today, with Minister of European Affairs Mr Aleksandar Andrija Pejović in attendance, members of the Committee on European Integration unanimously supported the Tenth and the Eleventh Quarterly Report on the Overall Activities within Montenegro’s Integration Process to the European Union for the period April-June 2016, and for the period July-September 2016. Furthermore, the Committee members learned about the Montenegro’s Draft Programme of Accession to the European Union for 2017-2018.
While presenting the quarterly reports, Minister Pejović pointed out that Montenegro recorded a positive continuity in its political dialogue with the EU. As for the negotiation dynamics, Mr Pejović said that the closing of the chapter depended on the assessment of the European Commission, but he pointed out that in 2017 Chapter 30 - External relations would be temporarily closed, adding that, according to him the compliance with the EU acquis was at the highest level in four more chapters. In that respect, through Montenegro’s Draft Programme of Accession to the European Union for 2017-2018, the Minister presented the strategic and legislative work plan in the following two years, aimed at transposing the overall EU acquis.
Assessing the plan for adoption of 741 laws and secondary legislation in compliance with the two-year Montenegro’s Draft Programme of Accession to the European Union as challenging, the Committee members pointed out the significance of adequate implementation of laws and secondary legislation, and promotion of mechanisms for monitoring their implementation.
