Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms holds its First Meeting

The Committee considered several acts 

At today’s First meeting, the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms considered three proposals for laws and a report. In the capacity of the lead committee, the Committee considered the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms of Montenegro. Mr Mehmed Zenka, Minister of Human and Minority Rights, made introductory remarks about this Proposal.   

The Committee also unanimously supported the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms of Montenegro, and proposed to the Parliament to adopt thereof.

In addition, the Committee unanimously supported the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Minority Rights and Freedoms, and proposed to the Parliament to adopt thereof together with amendments by the Committee, which have been accepted by the representative of the proposer.

Following the discussion, the Committee unanimously voted in favour of the 2017 Proposal for the Budget Law of Montenegro, and unanimously supported the following budgetary units: 

- Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms of Montenegro,

- Ministry for Human and Minority Rights,

- Agency for Personal Data Protection and Free Access to Information,

- Fund for Protection and Exercising of Minority Rights,

- Centre for Development and Preservation of Culture of Minorities of Montenegro.

The Committee unanimously accepted the Report on Development and Protection of Rights of Minorities and Other Minority Communities, and it will submit to the Parliament the Report with Proposals for Conclusions with regard to it t.
