Chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms Mr Halil Duković and members of the Committee: Mr Momčilo Martinović, Mr Mihailo Anđušić, and Mr Mirsad Murić will pay a study visit to the Commission for Petitions, Human Rights and Equal Opportunities of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia and other institutions dealing with human rights and minority policy in the Republic of Slovenia.
This activity was set out in the 2018 Activity Plan of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms, however, due to the intensive workload of MPs in plenary sessions and meetings of working bodies of the Parliament of Montenegro, it was not implemented in 2018.
The implementation of this visit, aimed at promotion of cooperation and exchange of good practice, is very significant, bearing in mind the EU membership of the Republic of Slovenia since 2004 and their experiences in the negotiating process.
In addition to a meeting with Ms Eva Irgl, Chair of the Commission for Petitions, Human Rights and Equal Opportunities of the National Assembly and the Commission members, the visit programme includes scheduled meetings with the representatives of the Ministry of Culture: Mr Sašo Gazdić, Head of the Office for Cultural Diversity and Human Rights, Mr Gregor Lesjak, Director of the Bureau for Religious Communities, and Ms Petra Culetto, State Secretary, as well as with Mr Stanko Baluh, Director of the Governmental Office for National Minorities of the Republic of Slovenia.
Furthermore, for the purpose of exchanging experiences and good practice, the delegation members will also talk with the Ombudsman of the Republic of Slovenia Mr Peter Svetina and Advocate of the Principle of Equality Mr Miha Lobnik.
During their stay in Ljubljana, the Chairperson and members of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms will visit the Embassy of Montenegro to the Republic of Slovenia, and will also meet with honorary consul of Montenegro Mr Vojislav Kovač and presidents of all Montenegrin associations in the Republic of Slovenia.
