Chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms Mr Halil Duković will take part in the conference “End Violence against Children”, which will take place in “Hilton” hotel in Podgorica, on 27 February 2017, starting at 9:00h.
The conference is organised by the Government of Montenegro and the UNICEF Office to Montenegro, in cooperation with the EU Delegation. The conference represents the beginning of the second stage of the “End Violence” campaign, which the Government of Montenegro and the UNICEF have been implementing since July 2016. Stage one of the campaign was focused on protection of children from sexual abuse online, while stage two will deal with the protection of children from domestic violence and corporal punishment.
The participants in the Conference will include experts, decision-makers, representatives of international and non-governmental organisations, representatives of the states in the region, and renowned international experts, such as Dr Nadine Burke-Harris, a paediatrician recognised worldwide for her novel approach to solving problems relating to adverse childhood experiences, prof Dr Frances Gardner, of the Oxford University, Dr Susan Bissell, director of Global Partnership for Ending Violence against Children, and Ms Kaia Iva, Minister of Social Protection of Estonia.
The agenda of the conference will include three key elements: strategic vision of the system for child protection against all types of violence and implementation of the Strategy for the Prevention and Protection of Children from Violence 2017-2021, scientific evidence and benefits of eliminating violence against children, and key elements of high-quality and effective parenting and the need for a holistic approach to early child development.
