Chairperson the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms Mr Halil Duković will meet on Thursday, 5 March, with the delegation of the Council of Europe Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) composed of: Executive Secretary of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings Ms Petya Nestorova and two members of the Council of Europe Group of Experts - GRETA Ms Julia Planitzer and Mihai Serban.
During its visit to Montenegro from 2 to 5 March 2020, a delegation of the Council of Europe Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings is meeting representatives of relevant national authorities, international and non-governmental organisations to gather information on the evaluation of the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against trafficking in human beings, which was ratified by Montenegro on 30 July 2008 and entered into force on 1 November 2008.
Montenegro is in the third round of evaluation of the implementation of the Convention, which began on 21 June 2019, when GRETA submitted an Evaluation Questionnaire to the Ministry of the Interior, focusing on access to justice and effective remedies for victims of trafficking. Subsequently, the Government of Montenegro, at its session held on 24 October 2019, adopted the questionnaire replies submitted to the Executive Secretariat of the Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings.
On the first day of their visit to Montenegro, representatives of this group met with representatives of: Police Administration - Office for Fight Against trafficking in Human Beings, Smuggling of Migrants and Illegal Migration, Border Police and Witness Protection Unit, Directorate for Civil Status and Personal Documents of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office, Supreme Court in Podgorica, Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare and the Operational Team for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, while at the end of the working day they visited a specialised shelter for human trafficking victims.
On day two, they will meet the representatives of: Ministry of Justice, Centre for Training in Judiciary and State Prosecution Office, Police Academy, Ministry for Human and Minority Rights, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after which they will visit the Children's Home '' Mladost' Bijela.
On the last day of their visit to Montenegro, the delegation of Group of Experts will meet representatives of the Administration for Inspection Affairs, Employment Agency of Montenegro, Union of Employers of Montenegro, Bar Association of Montenegro, Parliament of Montenegro, Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms of Montenegro and Office for Fight Against trafficking in Human Beings.
