Chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms with representatives of the Council of Europe Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings

It was concluded that the successful fight against trafficking in human beings implied a multisector approach and intensive cooperation of all competent authorities

Chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms Mr Halil Duković today met with the delegation of the Council of Europe Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) composed of: Executive Secretary of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings Ms Petya Nestorova and two members of the Council of Europe Group of Experts - GRETA Ms Julia Planitzer and Mihai Serban.

During its visit to Montenegro from 2 to 5 March, a delegation of the Council of Europe Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings met representatives of relevant national authorities, international and non-governmental organisations to gather information on the evaluation of the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against trafficking in human beings, which was ratified by Montenegro on 30 July 2008 and entered into force on 1 November 2008. It was stressed, during the meeting, that Montenegro was among the first states to ratify this convention.

Members of the delegation announced that a discussion on the preliminary report on Montenegro would be in June and that the state would be able to comment, while the adoption of the final report is expected by the end of 2020.
