The conference was organised by the Government of Montenegro and the UNICEF Office to Montenegro, in cooperation with the EU Delegation. The organising of the conference has marked the beginning of the second stage of the “End Violence” campaign, which the Government of Montenegro and the UNICEF have been implementing since July 2016. This stage of the campaign is dedicated to protection of children from domestic violence and corporal punishment, while stage one was focused on protection of children from sexual abuse online.
The participants in the Conference included experts, decision-makers, representatives of international and non-governmental organisations, representatives of the states in the region, and renowned international experts, including Dr Nadine Burke-Harris, a paediatrician recognised worldwide for her novel approach to solving problems relating to adverse childhood experiences, prof Dr Frances Gardner, of the Oxford University, Dr Susan Bissell, director of Global Partnership for Ending Violence against Children, and Ms Kaia Iva, Minister of Social Protection of Estonia. The opening of the conference was also attended by President of Montenegro Mr Filip Vujanović.
