The Chairperson of the Committee assessed that last year’s guidelines were useful for understanding the situation in the field of human rights and taking measures for further improvement. He pointed out that during last year the Committee worked in difficult conditions, due to the fact that part of the opposition boycotted the work of the Parliament and its working bodies, and also, the opposition MPs composed majority in the Committee. Nevertheless, the Committee has implemented key activities.
Expert Ivana Roanja was interested in the supervisory role of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms with regard to the work of the Fund for Protection and Exercising of Minority Rights as well as the observations of the Committee when considering the annual performance reports of the Fund and the attitude about its professional capacities.
The overall conclusion is that Montenegrin institutions take seriously the recommendations by expert Roanja and they have invested the necessary efforts to improve the situation in the field of human rights and freedoms.
