Meeting of Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants with Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria held

 

During its presidency of the Council of the European Union, Bulgaria will strongly support the regatta principle, that is, assessment according to individual merits of each candidate country, including Montenegro, Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Montenegro H.E.  Mladen Tcherveniakov announced at the meeting with Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants Mr Andrija Nikolić.

The meeting discussed the plans for the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council, which will be focused on the European perspective of the Western Balkans.

Chairperson of the Committee Mr Andrija Nikolić emphasised the need for stronger presence of the European Union in Montenegro and the region, and praised Bulgaria's plans in relation to the priorities of the semi-annual presidency, which this country takes over from Estonia on 1 January 2018.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the perspectives of parliamentary cooperation, and discussed models of concrete activities at the level of parliamentary working bodies and friendship groups. In that regard, they explored the possibility of exchanging experiences between foreign policy committees of the Parliament of Montenegro and the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria.
