Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants meets with Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Montenegro

Great Britain provides unequivocal political support to the European future of the Western Balkans, despite the fact that that country is in the process of leaving the European Union, was a joint assessment at the meeting of Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants Mr Andrija Nikolić and Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Montenegro Н.Е. Ms Alison Kemp.
In this regard, the interlocutors confirmed the significance of holding the Western Balkans Summit in London in July this year, reflecting the UK's commitment to the integration processes of the Western Balkans.
The Chairperson of the Committee expressed the institutional and personal gratitude to Ambassador Kemp for the active support that her friendly country had been providing to Montenegro in the process of the EU accession.
Ambassador Kemp stressed that parliamentary diplomacy was one of the pillars of practical cooperation between the two countries and emphasised the significance of also connecting the two parliaments through the continuation of the program implemented by the United Kingdom in cooperation with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy aimed at enhancing the capacities of the Parliament of Montenegro for effective implementation parliamentary oversight. Chairperson of the Committee Mr Andrija Nikolić pointed out the significance of connecting the committees on foreign affairs from the two parliaments, with emphasis on informing members of the Parliament of Montenegro about the rich parliamentary practice and experiences of the United Kingdom as the country with the longest standing tradition of parliamentary democracy in Europe.
Mr Nikolić informed the ambassador about the current political situation and the boycott of the opposition with regard to their participation in the working bodies of the Parliament, and also informed her about the activities of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants.
