Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants meets a Ukrainian delegation

Montenegro and Ukraine share the same foreign and political goals, maintain regular political dialogue and have excellent interstate relations, Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants Mr Andrija Nikolić said at the meeting with a delegation from the Ministry of Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine, headed by Minister Mr Vadym Chernysh.

Expressing solidarity for tribulation and suffering of the Ukrainian people in defending their state sovereignty and territorial integrity, Mr Nikolić reminded that, since the beginning of the crisis, position of Montenegro, as NATO member and primer candidate for EU membership, has been in line with EU foreign policy and values.  In this regard, Montenegro supports diplomatic efforts towards sustainable solution of the Ukrainian crisis, based on sovereignty, unity, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, within its internationally recognised borders, Mr Nikolić said.

Minister Chernysh thanked for Montenegro’s principled position regarding the Ukrainian crisis and presented current situation in the occupied territory.  Mr Chernysh emphasised the need for better information exchange and joint fight against foreign influence, hybrid warfare, money laundering and terrorist financing, which will strengthen Europe's position and strengthen its resilience to new security challenges.

They jointly pointed to the importance of establishing more intensive contacts at parliamentary level, being a precondition for better mutual understanding and improvement of inter-state relations.
