- Montenegro highly appreciates the position of official Hungary on honouring the merit-based principle in the accession process, with gratitude for clear and open support to Montenegro and its efforts, Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants Mr Andrija Nikolić stressed at the meeting with Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee Mr Zsolt Németh, who is heading the Hungarian parliamentary delegation.
Chairperson of the Committee referred to very successful cooperation with Hungary, which aside from good bilateral relations, is characterised by strong alliance within NATO, long-term cooperation within NATO, long-term cooperation within European integration and important investments in Montenegrin economy by Hungarian investors.
Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee Mr Zsolt Németh reminded of the continuity of friendly relations between the two countries, and outlined a successful good-neighbourly policy as a special contribution from Montenegro, as one of the capital and most funded policies of Montenegro.
Mr Németh especially emphasised the importance of the fact that the Western Balkans was highly ranked priority of the European agenda, and that the enlargement policy would be the most active policy of the European Union in the next decade.
Two chairperson shared opinions on models for improving parliamentary cooperation and exchanging parliamentary experiences, particularly in the context of European integration as the most important foreign and political goal of Montenegro.
The meeting was attended by the Committee members: Mr Dragutin Papović, Mr Luigi Shrela, Mr Ervin Ibrahimović and Mr Miodrag Lekić.
Hungarian delegation also includes two deputy chairpersons of the Foreign Affairs Committee Mr Zsolt Csenger-Zalán and Mr Attila Csaba Mesterházy, while the meeting was also attended by Hungarian Ambassador H.E. Mr Jozsef Négyesi and Deputy Ambassador Mr Zoltán Császár.
Delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Hungarian National Assembly is paying a two-day visit to Montenegro, upon the invitation of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants.
