Meeting of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants with the Chairperson of the Committee on European and International Affairs of the Parliament of the German Federal State of Baden-Württemberg

Continuous assistance from Germany in achieving Montenegro's strategic foreign policy priorities and support to Montenegro's perseverance in fulfilling the European agenda are crucial for our country, said Mr Andrija Nikolić, Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants, at a meeting with the Chairperson of the Committee on European and International Affairs of the Parliament of the German Federal State of Baden-Württemberg Mr Willi Stächele.

Emphasising that the visit is an opportunity for Montenegro and Baden-Wurttemberg to open the path to the prospect of economic cooperation, the Chairperson of the Committee Mr Andrija Nikolic reminded of the existing Agreement of Intent between Montenegro and Baden-Württemberg signed by the two prime ministers in 2015, which should be used for development and identification of new areas of cooperation.

At the meeting, they discussed the upcoming German presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of the current year, for which the interlocutors shared high expectations, and particularly emphasised the importance of strengthening the EU perspective of the candidate countries.

The Chairperson of the Committee on European and International Affairs of the Parliament of the German Federal State of Baden-Württemberg Mr Willi Stächele particularly emphasised the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation and voiced his interest in continuing to maintain intensive contact between German and Montenegrin parliamentarians. He pointed out that it is necessary to talk much more about Montenegro in Germany and to present it in a more adequate manner.
