Meeting of Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants with ambassadors of the Visegrád Group held

Montenegro is the best prepared for joining the EU among the Western Balkan countries, therefore it deserves to be its first next member - assessed the meeting of the Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants Mr Andrija Nikolić with ambassadors of the Visegrád Group (V4 - Chekia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia).

Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants Mr Andrija Nikolić said that courtiers of the Visegrád Group were very well aware of the regional deficits, recognising at the same that the EU was not complete without the Western Balkans region.

Mr Nikolić stressed that after successful tackling of the coronavirus epidemic, Montenegro was facing the challenge of preserving its economy, emphasising that concreate cooperation and promotion of Montenegro as safe destinations in V4 countries could significantly help in maintaining economic stability.

Ambassadors of Chekia H.E. Karel Urban, Hungary H.E. József Négyesi, Poland Artur Dmochowski and Slovakia H.E. Boris Gandel, agreed that the Visegrád Group, as an influential within the EU was firmly supporting the enlargement towards the Western Balkans, actively advocating Montenegro’s prompt membership in the EU. The ambassadors also pointed out that Montenegro can count on the political, expert and technical support of the Visegrád Group member states.

The interlocutors agreed that there is a great interest of Montenegro in preserving the summer tourist season in the period after the epidemic caused by coronavirus, which will be helped by activities aimed at maintaining a high level of interest of tourists from the Visegrád Group countries for Montenegro and its tourist offer.

The meeting also discussed the current developments in Montenegro and the upcoming regular parliamentary elections.
