Meeting Mr Nikolić – Mr Orav

Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants, Mr Andrija Nikolić, pointed out at the meeting with H.E. Mr Aivo Orav, Head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, that the opposition boycott of the Parliament had no real foundation and that it was not sustainable, assessing further that dialogue between democratically elected representatives was being conducted solely in the Parliament.

The interlocutors, in addition to the current political situation, exchanged opinions and views on the challenges that lay ahead in the process of joining the European Union.

Chairperson Nikolić pointed to the importance of the continuity of open door policy and thanked for the support provided by the European Union to Montenegro in fulfilling its obligations under the European agenda. Nikoli

reminded that Montenegro has been regionally recognised as a constructive partner and initiator of new initiatives as well, and one of the best examples was the idea of the Western Balkans Six within the framework of the Berlin Process, initiated by our country in 2013, which has already produced concrete results.

Nikolic expressed his concern during the meeting over a series of attempts to compromise the legal order on the day of parliamentary elections, and stressed that it was imperative for all stakeholders of social and political life to allow the Prosecutor's Office to do their work without pressure, in order to protect the Constitution of Montenegro and the fundamental values it defined.
