Mr Nikolić pointed out that Montenegrins, Bosniaks, Albanians, and Muslims from our diaspora had built themselves into the foundations of Montenegrin independence and contributed to the long-term benefit of our country and generations to come. The Chairperson of the Committee also said that our emigrants in Germany had proven that they were representatives of worthy, successful and persistent people characterised by commitment and love towards their country of origin, Montenegro, but also equally responsible relation towards the country in which they live and achieve their personal, familial, and professional ambitions.
- I am certain that today, as well as in the previous days and years, you have felt comfortable and that you can say with pride to your friends from Germany and other countries that you are from Montenegro, the new member of the NATO Alliance and a frontrunner country in the process of the EU integration, a country which is now already in a joint family of peoples with one big and strong country such as Germany, concluded Mr Nikolić.
The participants in the gathering were also addressed by a member of the Committee Mr Ervin Ibrahimović, who wished a happy Independence Day and called for the emigrants, especially young people, to preserve unity, multi-confessionalism, and multi-ethnic harmony, which had always been special values of Montenegro.
The ceremony, which this year was organised under the title “The Dawn of May”, in addition to the representatives of political, cultural, and media life of the FR Germany, was also attended by the representatives of local authorities of Ulcinj and of Schwäbisch Gmünd, which on this occasion signed the protocol of twinning of the two municipalities.
In the art portion, there was a performance of folk dance associations from Ulcinj and Rožaje, with dances from Montenegro.
