Chairperson of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Sports Mr Radule Novović today has met Mr Bobby Soobrayan, Advisor for education from UNICEF Europe and Central Asia, based in Geneva.
The meeting is organised so that the Advisor for education from UNICEF Office can get precise knowledge of our educational system, current and planned reform initiatives, with the aim of planning the cooperation which would contribute to providing continuous financial support as well as to better implementation and sustainability of reforms. During his visit to Montenegro, Mr Soobrayan will also meet with representatives of numerous educational institutions - the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, the Advisor paid a special attention to the importance of recognising the main challenges that the education system in Montenegro was facing and stressed that a certain amount of time and capacities were needed for the successful implementation of education reforms. He pointed to the necessity of continuous planning of public finances in the part of the implementation of the reform process in the system of education, based on the programs.
Chairperson of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Sports Mr Radule Novović stressed the fact that education in Montenegro was a priority issue. He informed representatives of the UNICEF about the problems identified in the education system and stressed that that the construction of new educational institutions was one of the most important conditions for the good implementation of the education system reform in Montenegro.
He also expressed pleasure with very successful long-term cooperation of the Committee and UNICEF Office to Montenegro as well as readiness for continuation of the good cooperation.
