Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee holds a meeting with participants of the project "Strengthening of youth activism in the prevention of gender-based violence"

Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee, Ms Nada Drobnjak, met today with the participants of the Project "Strengthening of youth activism in the prevention of gender-based violence", implemented by SOS telephone for women and children victims of violence.

The aim of this project is to create a network of young activists ready for voluntary inclusion into the civil sector initiatives in the field of prevention of violence, thus empowering young people to act in the fight against violence at all levels, creating mechanisms that can guarantee the building of positive practice.

One of the activities of the Project is ongoing - training of volunteers, designed to sensitise the participants on a gender basis and prepare them for often traumatic experiences with victims of violence. The training has been attended by over twenty volunteers, employees, students from the central region of the country.

Committee Chairperson, Ms Nada Drobnjak, informed participants of the Project about the activities of the Gender Equality Committee, which, as a significant institutional mechanism for the protection of women's rights, contributed greatly in promoting the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention) by organising thematic meetings and participating in global campaigns.
