Chairwoman of the Gender Equality Committee, Ms Nada Drobnjak, participated today at the Conference marking the tenth anniversary of the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, OSCE Mission to Montenegro and the Montenegrin municipalities: Ten Years of Work in the Field of Gender Equality - Achievements and Challenges.
The participants of the Conference were addressed by: the Chairwoman of the Gender Equality Committee, Ms Nada Drobnjak, Minister of Public Administration, Ms Suzana Pribilović, Head of the Department for Gender Equality at the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, Ms Biljana Pejović, Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, Ms Maryse Daviet and OSCE Senior Adviser on Gender Issues, Ms Amarsana Darisuern.
Chairwoman of the Committee spoke about the need to strengthen gender equality at the local level and the possibility of improving the legislative framework in order for local self-governments to have greater obligation to act in this field, as well as the need to improve the cooperation of the Gender Equality Committee of the Parliament of Montenegro with local mechanisms for achieving gender equality.
Professor Marijana Pajvančić presented the main recommendations from the Analysis on the Gender Aspect at the Local Level.
The Conference is part of the OSCE Mission project, entitled "Support to the Improvement of Good Governance Standards in Montenegro" and brings together participants from institutions in Montenegro and the region in the field of gender equality, with a special emphasis on the presentation of results achieved at the municipal level.
