Gender Equality Committee has marked International Day of Families with a thematic meeting “Families and inclusive societies“.
The meeting was opened by Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee Ms Nada Drobnjak, which was followed by remarks of Agima Ljaljević, Director of Health promotion Centre in Institute of Public Health of Montenegro, and Ms Senka Klikovac, Head of the Directorate at the Directorate for Health Protection and Biomedicine at the Ministry of Health.
“Families and inclusive societies” is a topic of this year’s International Day of Families, focused on Sustainable Development Goal 16, related to promotion of peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provision of access to justice for all and building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
The Committee concluded that family must be a priority in creating sectoral policies, and that it is necessary to continue organising sessions on the subject of family, marriage, the role of parents with a special emphasis on the role of father.
Aside from members of the Committee, the following also took part in the discussion: Head of the Adult Education Department at the Center for Vocational Education Ms Ljiljana Garić, Member of the Operational Team for Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence Ms Irena Vuković, Executive Director of the Montenegrin Women's Lobby Ms Aida Petrović, Head of Department for Gender Equality Affairs at the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights Ms Biljana Pejović and Deputy Director of the Center for Social Work for the Capital of Podgorica Katarina Bijelić.
