Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee Ms Nada Drobnjak has taken part in the project “OSCE Survey on the Well-being and Safety of Women”, held in Podgorica.

Ms Serani Siegal, project manager, presented the achieved progress, the undertaken activities and the future steps in implementing the project presented in February 2017 at the WebEx meeting to the local shareholders working in Montenegro on the prevention and fight against violence against women.

Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee Ms Nada Drobnjak presented activities of the Gender Equality Committee in the field of preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence.

The survey will provide data on the prevalence and intensity of violence against women in seven OSCE member states, encompassing countries in South-East Europe and Eastern Europe, including Montenegro.

The ultimate goal of the project is to create a database on various forms of violence against women, which will be used to promote policies and planning of national actors, such as the security sector, executive and legislative institutions, social services, as well as international actors.  The data can be used for reporting within the various international frameworks of the United Nations and the Council of Europe.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, the Ministry of Health and the Public Health Institute.
