Gender Equality Committee holds its Eighteenth Meeting

At its meeting held today, the Committee considered the Report on the Implementation of the 2017 Plan of Action for Gender Equality (PAPRR) for the period 2017-2021.

The Report on the Implementation of the 2017 Plan of Action for Gender Equality is presented as the tabular overview of information obtained from the relevant institutions, which are either main actors or partners for implementation of measures outlined in this document.

The 2017 Report points to the extent of improvement of legislative and institutional mechanisms, both at the national and local levels, as well as significant steps forward in three priority areas: political participation, economic empowerment and combating violence against women.

The report shows that, out of 2017 PAPRR planned measures, 67% of measures were implemented fully or are being continually implemented, 17% were not due for reporting, 9% were not implemented, and 7% were partially implemented.

The highest degree of implementation of the measures was achieved in the following areas: improving gender equality and women's human rights; gender sensitive education and education; gender sensitive health care; equality in the decision-making process in political and public life.

Under the item of the agenda “Current issues”, they discussed the upcoming activities.

The meeting was attended by the acting Secretary of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights Mr Valon Dasharami and Head of the Gender Equality Department at the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights Ms Biljana Pejović.
