Gender Equality Committee and the OSCE Mission to Montenegro organise thematic workshops

Gender Equality Committee and the OSCE Mission to Montenegro organised two one-day thematic workshops for MPs and parliamentary staff on “Gender equality and gender mainstreaming”, with the aim of implementing one of the measures from the Action Plan for the Gender Sensitive Parliament of Montenegro, September 2016 - September 2018, which envisages capacity building and development of procedures for the implementation of assessments in all stages of making and adopting laws, policies, and other acts.

The workshops were held on 17 and 18 September in Podgorica Hotel.

The workshops, led by experts Ms Karolina Leaković and Ms Slavica Striković, were organised in panels “Gender Equality and Women’s Human Rights - Basic Concepts” and “Mainstreaming in Institutions and Politics”.

The participants in the workshops were presented with international gender equality standards and gender sensitive legislation, the publication “Laws for Men and Women: A Practical Guide to Gender-Sensitive Legislation”, and case studies: gender-based analysis of the Proposal for the Law on Environmental Impact Assessment.

The following took part in the workshops: MPs Mr Zvonko Vuković, Mr Boris Mugoša, Ms Nada Drobnjak, Ms Branka Tanasijević, and Ms Maja Bakrač, Deputy Secretary General of the Parliament of Montenegro Ms Marija Mirjačić, Assistant Secretary General of the Parliament of Montenegro Ms Nataša Komnenić, secretaries of the parliamentary committees, as well as advisers to the secretariats of the committees,  associates at the Service for Human Resources and Corporate Affairs, Office of the Secretary General of the Parliament of Montenegro, Sector for Research, Documentation and IT Network, Department for Protocol, and Democracy Workshops.
