Gender Equality Committee Chairperson and member meet with UN WOMEN expert

Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee Ms Nada Drobnjak and the Committee member Ms Branka Tanasijević have met today with UN WOMEN expert Ms Sanja Nikolin, who is paying a working visit to Montenegro, aimed at collecting data within the UN WOMEN programme on promoting gender sensitive policies in the South East Europe and the Republic of Moldova.

The Regional Program assists national and local authorities to fulfil their gender equality obligations in order to fully integrate a gender sensitive budget and acquire the responsibility for managing and monitoring the implementation of national and local budgets. The same program aims to develop the ability of all relevant institutions to use gender sensitive budgeting as one of the key tools for achieving gender equality.

During the meeting, they discussed the position of women in Montenegro, their representation in public and social life, economic empowerment of women and regional cooperation in the field of improvement of gender equality.

The meeting was attended by Ms Biljana Pejović, Head of the Gender Equality Department at the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, and Ms Senada Cikotić, associate at the Gender Equality Department at the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights.
