Ms Drobnjak and Mr Hadzi Zafirov hold meeting

Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee, Ms Nada Drobnjak, met today with the consultant of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, Mr Žarko Hadzi-Zafirov

At the meeting, the work of the Gender Equality Committee of the Parliament of Montenegro was discussed, and the information gathered would be of use for the drafting of the initial analysis of the work of parliamentary working bodies dealing with human rights and gender equality.

The meeting was held in relation to the three-year project of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy – Regional Office in Belgrade, titled "Creating a parliamentary network on human rights in the Western Balkans". The project was launched on 1 April 2019 and would include cooperation of eight parliaments from six countries of the region: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia and Montenegro.

The focus of this program is to establish regional network of parliamentary committees on human rights and gender equality in the Western Balkans. With the help of this network, the Westminster Foundation for Democracy aims to analyse the work of parliamentary committees on human rights and gender equality in all parliaments of the Western Balkans and to strengthen their capacities to undergo parliamentary scrutiny. In addition, the program will strengthen the capacities of parliamentary committees of the Western Balkans in the implementation of post-legislative oversight of legislation and policies that regulate human rights and gender equality, which includes the support for the development of practices for conducting control hearings, research and reviews of the fulfillment of constitutional obligations regarding gender equality and human rights.

The meeting was attended by Ms Gorica Nadjinska, the assistant to the consultant.
