In addition to the Chairperson of the Committee Mr Petar Ivanović, the meeting was also attended by the Committee members MPs Ms Ana Nikolić and Mr Mirsad Murić.
Chairperson of the Committee on Tourism, Agriculture, Ecology and Spatial Planning Mr Petar Ivanović pointed out the significance of establishing cooperation with Poland in the field of tourism and agriculture, the opening of Chapter 27 - Environment and Climate Change, education for young people, respecting the quality of education system in Poland, the development of high quality tourism, establishing cooperation between Montenegro and Poland, promotion of the two countries, the establishment of direct flights and the twinning of cities.
MP Ms Ana Nikolić emphasised that Montenegro was a country of natural beauty where it was necessary to connect tourism and ecology in a unique way in order to offer tourists a product of good quality. She supported the twinning of the cities from Montenegro and Poland and suggested to begin with Cetinje, on the Montenegrin side.
Chair of the Poland - Montenegro parliamentary Friendship Group Mr Grzegorz Matusiak said that the two countries have much in common, and the interlocutors, as exceptionally significant, emphasised the need for connecting tourism, culture and sports.
Member of the Polish Parliament Ms Eva Kozanecka pointed out the significance of connecting Montenegrin and Polish businessmen and cooperating in the field of sports, higher education, and with young people.
MP Mirsad Murić pointed out the significance of ecology and introduced the fact that Montenegro declared itself an ecological state in its Constitution, which is why it was important for us to learn about clean technologies and the support to development of a "green economy" based on the principles of sustainable development, preservation of biodiversity and respect for ecological standards.
The interlocutors jointly noted that the first official visit of the Poland - Montenegro parliamentary Friendship Group to the Parliament of Montenegro had opened a new page in relations of the two friendly countries and that good foundations for strengthening cooperation in many areas had been established, both for Montenegro and Poland. During the meeting, a contact person was appointed to implement the twinning of cities procedure, it was agreed that the Polish side would consider the possibility of offering to Montenegro its expert assistance for developing of the rural areas, a return visit was agreed upon, which, in addition to the delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro, would include representatives of companies in order to establish cooperation. It was estimated that the promotion of direct flights and the assistance in the implementation of relevant projects regarding the environment would be an excellent basis for cooperation between the two countries.
