Delegation of MPs was composed of: Mr Markus Kurze, Mr Ralf Geisthardt, Mr Daniel Sturm, Mr Detlef Gürth and Mr Siegfried Borgward, who are also members of the Working group for federal and European affairs and media. The visit was organised in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), which has intensified its activities relating to the organisation of the working visit of German politicians from the federal and provincial levels to Montenegro, in order to contribute to the promotion of Montenegro on its Euro-Atlantic path, and create opportunities to establish closer and more intensive cooperation between the two countries.
Chairperson of the Committee on Tourism, Agriculture, Ecology and Spatial Planning Mr Petar Ivanović expressed pleasure with the visit of the German MPs to the Parliament of Montenegro, emphasising that it was a great contribution to further strengthening of parliamentary cooperation between Montenegro and Germany.
The Chairperson of the Committee pointed out that Germany was continuously promoting help policies to Montenegro in transposing the acquis communautaire of the European Union in Chapters 11, 12, 13 and 27 and expressed belief that despite all the challenges that Montenegro and the European Union are facing, the EU would keep highly on its agenda the policy of support to Montenegro in the fields addressed by the Committee on Tourism, Agriculture, Ecology and Spatial Planning.
MPs were interested in the ways and mechanisms for dealing with the problem of illegal construction and waste water treatment, pointing out that such problems existed also at the EU level.
The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the bilateral relations between Montenegro and Germany. The Chairperson of the Committee reminded that Montenegro have already signed a number of cooperation agreements in the field of agriculture with Germany and its counties. The interlocutors stressed that even more significant cooperation was possible and desirable, especially in the field of environmental protection and agriculture, and discussed opportunities for increasing cooperation between Montenegro and county Saxony Anhalt, given that this region has a very efficient, healthy and sustainable agriculture.
Chairperson Ivanović expressed hope that, in addition to developed cooperation and political dialogue at the federal level, cooperation with all federal German states in areas relevant to the work of the Committee would be improved.
