Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare holds its Sixteenth Meeting

The Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare devoted its today’s meeting to International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD)

In addition to members of the Committee, the meeting was attended by the following: Ms Senka Klikovac, Advisor at the Ministry of Health, Ms Marina Medojević, Advisor at the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, Ms Aleksandra Pavićević, Executive Director of the Association of Youth with Disabilities of Montenegro (AYDM), Mr Milenko Vojičić, program coordinator for accessibility in the Association of Youth with Disabilities of Montenegro, Mr Milisav Korać, Executive Director of the Federation of Associations of Parents of Children and Youth with Developmental Disabilities "Our Initiative”, Mr Andrija Samardžić, social affairs advisor at the Association of the Blind of Montenegro, and Ms Natasa Borović, Director of the Association of Paraplegics of Montenegro.

The representatives of the organisations addressing the issues of disabled persons, spoke about specific issues and problems that persons with disabilities faced in daily life.  With regard to that, it was noted that Montenegro should create a base on the number of unemployed persons with disabilities.  Also, it is necessary to work more on the improvement of rights of persons with disabilities, and additionally improve some legal frameworks related to the rights of persons with disabilities.

Chairperson of the Committee Mr Suad Numanović pointed out that the Committee on Health, Labor and Social Welfare was open to cooperation in the implementation of the programs that are being undertaken in this area.
