At its Eighth Meeting held today, the Working Group for the Implementation of the OSCE/ODIHR Recommendations considered in more detail the proposed solutions for amending the Law on Financing Political Entities and Election Campaigns.
In accordance with the given OSCE/ODIHR recommendations, and for increasing transparency of the financing of election campaigns and control of the financing of political entities, the Working Group determined which articles needed amending in order to appropriately incorporate the recommendations into the future Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Financing Political Entities and Election Campaigns.
Furthermore, they also analysed the proposed solutions and suggestions by the Agency for Prevention of Corruption and the State Audit Institution and in that part the emphasis would be on those proposals addressing practical problems which emerged during the implementation of this law while also matching the OSCE/ODIHR recommendations.
It was agreed at the meeting that the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Financing Political Entities and Election Campaigns be finalised during the next week.
The ninth meeting of the Working Group will be held in the UN Eco House in Podgorica, on Friday 17 November at 11h. On that occasion, they will discuss with representatives of the Women’s Political Network the conclusions of this organisation with regard to the amendments to the relevant Montenegrin legislation, in order to improve gender equality in political decision-making in Montenegro. Following that, at 14h, a meeting of the Working Group will be held in the building of the Parliament, along with other interested shareholders who responded to the Public Invitation.
The Working Group meetings will be open to the public.
