At the Tenth Meeting of the Working Group for the Implementation of the OSCE/ODIHR Recommendations held today, based on the Public Invitation, the representatives of the Association of Youth with Disabilities of Montenegro, the Association of Pensioners and Disabled Persons of Montenegro, the Party of Pensioners, Disabled Persons and Restitution of Montenegro and the Group of Citizens “Civic Action” also took part in the meeting.
In the first part of the meeting, while presenting his proposals and suggestions, the representative of the Association of Youth with Disabilities of Montenegro pointed out the shortcomings in implementation of the the Law on Election of Councillors and MPs in part of guaranteeing the rights to persons of disabilities to elect and to be elected. While the representatives Association of Pensioners and Disabled Persons of Montenegro, the Party of Pensioners, Disabled Persons and Restitution of Montenegro and the Group of Citizens “Civic Action” pointed out the necessity for amending the Law on Election of Councillors and MPs and the Law on Voters' Register.
Members of the Working Group pointed out that certain proposed solutions go beyond the authorisations of the Working Group, bearing in mind the purpose for which it was founded, which was primarily the implementation of the Recommendations from the Final Report of the OSCE/ODIHR Observation Mission.
It was agreed that those proposals in line with the OSCE/ODIHR recommendations be concretely formulated and submitted to the Working Group for further consideration.
