The delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro, headed by the Vice President of the Parliament and the Chair of the Montenegro-Albania parliamentary Friendship Group Mr Genci Nimanbegu, yesterday visited the areas affected by the earthquake in the Republic of Albania: Lezhe, Shengjin, Bubq and Durres.

On this occasion and on behalf of the entire delegation, Vice President Genci Nimanbegu sent a message of solidarity to the Albanian people and the Albanian authorities, wishing them to overcome the effects of the earthquake as soon as possible. He informed the interlocutors that the parliamentary delegation would inform the Parliament of Montenegro about the data obtained in the field, in order to find a way for our country to provide the necessary aid to a friendly neighbouring state. The Vice President also conveyed the readiness of the people of Montenegro, especially the people of the Ulcinj area, who themselves were the victims of the earthquake in 1979, to assist in the possible housing of people who were made homeless.

In addition to Vice President Nimanbegu, the delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro also included the following MPs: Mr Luigj Shkrela, Mr Halil Duković, Ms Ana Nikolić, Mr Mirsad Murić, Mr Nedžad Drešević, and Ms Danijela Pavićević.

The meetings were also attended by Ms Vesna Radonjić, charge d’affaires at the Embassy of Montenegro to the Republic of Albania, and Mr Danilo Brajović, first secretary at the Embassy in Tirana.

Following the visit of the delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to the earthquake-affected areas in the Republic of Albania, held on 1 December 2019, the Vice-President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Genci Nimanbegu initiated activities aimed at providing specific aid to the people affected by the earthquake on 26 November 2019.
