SAPC in Strasbourg on Montenegro-EU relations

President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović will head our country’s delegation in the European Union‑Montenegro Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee (SAPC) which will take place in the European Parliament’s building in Strasbourg, on 14 and 15 November. President Brajović will also be a co-chair along with Mr David Martin, Chairman of the European Parliament’s Delegation to the EU-Montenegro SAPC.

The Committee will consider the state of play of EU-Montenegro relations, in the presence of representatives of the Government of Montenegro, the Presidency-in-Office-of the Council and the European Commission. The agenda also includes the activities of the Parliament of Montenegro on improving the overall electoral environment, as well as the progress and results in judiciary reform and the fight against organised crime and corruption. They will also discuss fundamental rights and freedoms, including free and professional work of the media.

The delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro consists of members of the Parliament and Chief Negotiator Mr Aleksandar Drljević.

Following the end of the SAPC meeting, the Declaration and recommendations will be adopted.

On SAPC: The EU-Montenegro Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee (SAPC) was set up in June 2010, upon the entering into force of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement. The Committee is composed of members of the Parliament of Montenegro and the European Parliament, and it meets twice a year interchangeably in Brussels or Strasbourg and Podgorica. The SAPC considers all aspects of relations between the EU and Montenegro and, in particular, the implementation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement.
