Parliamentary diplomacy and activities of the Azerbaijan-Montenegro friendship groups open the door for further enhancement of political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries, this is said at the meeting between President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović and Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan Mr Ogtay Asadov.
- Favourable business climate for Azerbaijani investors in Montenegro, as well as successful projects in the field of tourism and logistics, are the best manner to promote the two countries and create conditions for the implementation of new projects, such as the Adriatic-Ionian gas pipeline which is planned to pass through Montenegro - the Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan said.
The cooperation between the Mixed Commission for Economic Cooperation and the forthcoming Business Forum, where top officials of our countries are expected to participate, were discussed at the meeting with Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Mr Artur Rasizade, who expressed expectation that by improving the contractual base we would create formal preconditions for intensifying foreign trade exchange and raising overall economic, cultural relations to a higher level.
Similar tones of friendly support and recognition to Montenegro’s consistent foreign policy and the special role of our country in the Western Balkans were heard at the meeting with Foreign Minister Mr Elmar Mammadyarov, who noted that excellent political relations should result in much better economic cooperation in the fields of energy, education and sustainable use of hydro-potential.
Summing up his visit to Azerbaijan, which caused a great deal of attention from local media, the President of the Parliament of Montenegro said that during all the meetings, a friendly attitude was obvious as well as willingness for the development of new joint projects in many areas.
- Azerbaijan appreciates the clear political messages of our country regarding the problems that this country faces, and they also stressed favourable business climate for investors of this country, which experienced economic expansion during the last decades. All the meetings jointly assessed that there were many opportunities for future cooperation, while the Portonovi tourist complex can serve as an example for the development of future successful joint projects. I would also like to emphasise the participation in the conference organised by the OSCE PA Silk Road Support Group, whose co-founder is Montenegro, which currently consists of 22 countries, and is aimed at creating better links between the East and the West. All of this is a proof of our country’s commitment to multilateral cooperation, the development of diplomatic relations and the intensification of economic cooperation in the best interest of Montenegrin citizens.
The parliamentary delegation, also including MP Mr Bogdan Fatić, laid wreaths in the Ally of Honour and Ally of Martyrs, and visited the Honorary Consulate of Montenegro in Baku, led by Mr Vugar Aliyev, who is a devoted friend to development of relations between the two countries.
