Mr Brajović speaks with members of the Venice Commission

- Since renewing its independence, Montenegro has sought and received expert assistance of the Venice Commission for its key legislation, and that is a contribution highly appreciated by our state - President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović stressed in his conversation with members of this expert and consultative body of the Council of Europe.

Mr Brajović emphasised that due to this, positive assessment in the EC reports on the legislative framework in all areas represented a common success.

The meeting, attended also by Chairperson of the Constitutional Committee Mr Miodrag Vuković, discussed the election of members of the Judicial Council, for which a two-thirds majority support is required. Representatives of the Venice Commission stressed that they highly appreciated the fact that Montenegro was consulting them for the purpose of finding legislative and political solution.  The interlocutors agreed that all elected representatives of people should make additional efforts and show responsible relation towards state institutions and reform processes, particularly in a year, which is among key ones for Montenegro’s European integration. The Venice Commission delegation visiting Montenegro is composed of: Mr Philip Dimitrov, member of the Bulgarian Constitutional Court, Ms Marta Cartabia, Vice President of the Italian Constitutional Court, and Ms Simona Granata-Menghini, Deputy Secretary of the Venice Commission.
