Today’s Collegium of the President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović considered the options for finding the best model and manner of work aimed at ensuring preconditions for further advancement of the electoral legislation. As announced, the basic guidelines for achieving this goal will be recommendations from the ODIHR Report following the parliamentary elections.
Members of the Collegium agreed that one of the next steps would be to invite the representatives of all political parties represented in the 26th Parliament of Montenegro, so that the will of the citizens would be represented in the best possible manner through their elected representatives. Furthermore, constructive participation of relevant non-governmental organisations is expected and proposals from all institutions and individuals that would contribute to the further improvement of the electoral environment are welcome.
The President of the Parliament reminded of a series of legislative and other measures that significantly improved the electoral process ahead of 2016 parliamentary elections, and also before the presidential and local elections of 2018, with the support and approval of the most significant international institutions, as well as domestic political entities.
At the Collegium, an unequivocal position of the participants was presented, stating that, regardless of the model of work they agree upon, the only place for its implementation would be the Parliament of Montenegro.
