President of Parliament presents certificates to attendees of educational programme “Barbara Prammer” Democracy Workshops

President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr Ivan Brajović, presented today certificates to representatives of students who have attendeed the educational programme “Barbara Prammer” Democracy Workshops in the period from 10 October 2017 to 8 June 2018.

Addressing all present at the jubilean Tenth Certificate presentation, President Brajović stated that in addition to care of the health and education, democracy has been the most important area to be studied, for which we receive grades every day, and not only at the end of the semester or the school year.

- Dear children, as you have learned from your trainers at the Democracy Workshops, democracy provides for the conditions for free living, learning, happiness, and finally a carefree play. Knowledge is infinite and can not fit the textbooks, but is distributed to the playgame and socialising, conversations and everything that happens between people. Textbooks are guides to a long journey of life, where not everything is easy and accessible. But, it is much easier alongside democracy and with democracy, and achieving goals is safer and more equitable, Mr Brajović said.

Referring to Ms Barbara Prammer, the former Speaker of the Austrian Parliament, who initiated the programme of Democratic Workshops, the President of the Parliament of Montenegro expressed his hope that the attendees of the Democratic Workshops will be getting better every day and that this represents the most honest and most valuable effort of the entire society.

- Montenegro is the state of all of us and our aim is to make it the country with the happiest people in the world. That is our goal, and will be yours as well. I hope that you learned something in the Parliament of Montenegro and that it was interesting for you here with us. I believe that one of you will be a member of the Parliament tomorrow, president maybe, President Brajović said to the primary school students.

On this occasion, representatives from 41 Montenegrin schools from 16 municipalities, as well as members of the Roma Association of Montenegro, and “Stara Varoš” Scout Squad, have been presented with certificates on behalf of 2962 attendees in this cycle.

“Barbara Prammer” Democracy Workshops are an educational programme of the Parliament of Montenegro, within which the children of primary school age learn about parliamentary democracy, functioning of the parliament, adoption and implementation of laws, and other topics within civic education.

Since its beginning in October 2012, the programme included more than 26,000 participants from 121 montenegrin primary schools from the territory of all Montenegrin municipalities.

At the ceremony, students from the primary school "Aleksa Đilas Bećo" from Mojkovac, presented themselves with a series of recitations and musical pieces.
