The President of the Parliament welcomes holding of 20th Lučindan Meetings in Zagreb

On the occasion of holding of the 20th Lučindan Meetings in Zagreb, the President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr Ivan Brajović, sent a letter to members of the National Community of Montenegrins in Croatia and the Association of Montenegrins and Friends of Montenegro - "Montenegro" Zagreb:

"I am pleased and proud that the Association of Montenegrins and Friends of Montenegro – 'Montenegro' has organised Lučindan Meetings for the 20th time, under the auspices of the Mayor of Zagreb. This is a proof that the neighboring country and its capital city respect their own and Montenegrin citizens alike, nurture and support our friendship, which has been tested many times, but it has survived and turned into unconditional mutual support, both at the local and global level.

Also, it is of immense importance that Lučindan Meetings with their theme have served as a reminder over the years of the glorious history of Montenegro, its cities and battles, which through time, using swords and diplomacy, claimed most beautiful victories called independence and freedom of Montenegro. In memory of the heroes of the Battle of Grahovac, Montenegrin King Nikola I wrote: "The monument of your bravery is Montenegro and its freedom", expressing more than anything how important it was to secure victory for the sake of freedom, but also the expansion of borders of Montenegro, which would during turbulent times to come slowly draw outlines to our country. This was to be first embodied in the decisions of the Berlin Congress, when our country received formal independence even from those countries that did not recognise it, and then through the turbulent XX century, until today, when we surely stand on the path towards Euro-Atlantic and European integration.

On this behalf and on behalf of the Parliament of Montenegro I wish you a successful event with a message that you like Croatia as you do the roof you live under, and Montenegro as your foundation."
