Chairperson of the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget Mr Predrag Sekulić took part in the high level regional meeting on the development of international tax cooperation: Fight against tax evasion, held in Tbilisi, Georgia, on 17 and 18 July, hosted jointly by  the Ministry of Finance, the Parliament, the National Bank and the Department of Revenue of Georgia in cooperation with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, that Montenegro is a member of since 2018.

The two-day meeting gathered representatives of: ministries of finance; tax administrations, parliaments and parliamentary committees dealing with tax issues and central banks from European countries and Central Asia, as well as several OECD representatives dealing with tax issues.

The meeting discussed the issues relating to: increasing tax collection through strengthening measures and activities related to reducing tax frauds and tax evasion; challenges in the digitisation of the economy and supervision of the competent tax authorities; creation of international standards in this area, as well as the Exchange of Information on Request (EOIR) and automatic exchange of information on the financial account (AEOI) in accordance with the established rules; further strengthening of transparency and the like.
