Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget holds its 68th Meeting

Performance Report of the Committee adopted and a proposal for law supported

At today’s meeting, the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget has considered and decided to propose to the Parliament to adopt the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Ports.

The Committee also adopted its 2018 Performance Report and noted that in 2018 the activities of the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget within its legislative, oversight and representative function were reflected in the following:

  • The Committee held 28 meetings, lasting for 27 hours and 30 minutes, including two joint meetings lasting 4 hours and 30 minutes; it considered 102 items of agenda including 30 proposals for laws, 58 other acts (reports, financial plans, decisions, conclusions, etc.) and 40 amendments submitted to proposal for laws in 2018; also, in accordance with Article 67 of the parliamentary Rules, external stakeholders took part in Committee meetings on 150 occasions.
  • The Committee held one control and one consultative hearing, considered the implementation of 12 parliamentary conclusions and defined five proposals for conclusions which were subsequently forwarded to the Parliament for adoption.
  • In line with legislative provisions, parliamentary conclusions or as the supplement requested within the consideration of the acts, the Committee also reviewed information papers and opinions submitted by the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy, State Audit Institution and Central Bank of Montenegro, and learned about numerous suggestions, comments and initiatives of the civil sector on the need for considering a specific issue or proposing amendments to laws.
  • In the reporting period, the Committee continued international cooperation mostly through: parliamentary conferences in line with its obligations stemming from Montenegro’s accession process to the EU, cooperation with the Energy Community Secretariat, forums organised by the German Association for International Cooperation (GIZ) within Open Regional Fund for South-East Europe – Energy Efficiency, etc.
