Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms holds its 20th Meeting

At its 20th Meeting, the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms has considered the 2017 Performance Report of the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms of Montenegro and the 2017 Annual Report of the National Preventive Mechanism against Torture.

Following comprehensive discussion, the Committee has unanimously supported the 2017 Performance Report of the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms of Montenegro, and it will submit the Report with Proposal for Conclusions to the Parliament thereof. In addition, the Committee has unanimously supported the Annual Report of the National Preventive Mechanism against Torture, and it will submit the Report with Proposal for Conclusions to the Parliament thereof.

As part of the monitoring and reporting on the situation of human rights defenders in the OSCE region, it is planned for members of the expert mission to meet with representatives of the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Parliament, respectively the relevant Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms, as well as with representatives of other relevant institutions, including the civil sector, the academic community, the religious community, and the like. Members of the Committee will hold a meeting with ODIHR Mission representatives of the ODIHR mission in the proposed deadline.
