Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms holds its 27th Meeting

Consultative hearing held

At its 27th Meeting of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms, consultative hearing of the representatives from the following institutions was held: Ombudsman’s Office, Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Justice, Ministry for Human and Minority Rights, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Interior.

The topic of consultative hearing, organised in accordance with the Committee’s Activity Plan, was “Implementing the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Strategy for the Prevention and Protection of Children against Violence 2017-2021, and the activities undertaken to implement the recommendations from the Report on the evaluation of the system for monitoring the state of children's rights in Montenegro for the period 2014-2017, prepared by the Coram International at the Coram Children's Legal Center, at the request of UNICEF”.

By holding this consultative hearing, the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms acted upon recommendations from the Report on the evaluation of the system for monitoring the state of children's rights in Montenegro for the period 2014-2017, which have suggested to the relevant parliamentary committees to fully use their authority in seeking the answers from the Government regarding the achievements in monitoring the state of children's rights. The aim of the hearing has been achieved - the information provided about the activities carried out is encouraging, and the family must be the foundation for everything that needs to be done for the purpose of strengthening the family support services.
