Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms holds its 33rd Meeting

The Committee considered five amendments

At its 33rd Meeting held today, the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms considered five amendments to the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Execution of the Suspended Sentence and the Community Service Sentence, submitted by the Government of Montenegro.

Director General of the Directorate for Execution of Criminal Sanctions at the Ministry of Justice Ms Nataša Radonjić elaborated on the amendments on behalf of the Government of Montenegro.

She pointed out that, in line with the amendment to the Law on Public Administration (Official Gazette of Montenegro 78/18), the Government of Montenegro adopted the Action Plan on harmonising special laws with the Law on Public Administration. She tasked the Ministry of Justice with harmonising the Law on Execution of the Suspended Sentence and the Community Service Sentence by using amendments, considering that the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Execution of the Suspended Sentence and the Community Service Sentence was in the parliamentary procedure. The amendments propose name change of the Institution for Enforcement of Criminal Sanctions into the Administration for Enforcement of Criminal Sanctions.

For the purpose of the legal and technical precision, upon the proposal by the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms, amendment 1 was rephrased, and the Government representative agreed with it.

The Committee unanimously supported the legally and technically rephrased amendment 1 as well as amendments 2 through 5 and proposed to the Parliament to adopt them.
